Davis is a meticulous, elusive jewel thief who has been committing a series of flawlessly executed heists along California’s 101 freeway, from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles. He steals only what can be replaced by insurance, carefully planning each crime so no one is ever hurt. His crimes are so widespread and his targets so diverse that the police don’t even realize they’re connected until Detective Lou Lubesnick finally sees the pattern and becomes convinced it’s the work of one man. Davis’s path crosses with Sharon Coombs, a disillusioned insurance claims adjuster whose firm handles the high-end clients targeted by the thief. As Davis eyes his final score and Sharon faces her own crossroads, their paths intertwine while Lou closes in, raising the stakes for all three in this cat-and-mouse game across Los Angeles.
