Synopsis
The Middle chronicles the everyday struggles of the Heck family, a working-class clan living in the fictional town of Orson, Indiana. At the center is Frankie Heck, a perpetually stressed but loving mother of three who works as a car salesman to help support her family. Her husband Mike is a stoic, blue-collar quarry manager who rarely shows emotion but deeply cares for his family. Their three children—Axl, the rebellious and mischievous eldest son; Sue, the relentlessly optimistic and awkward middle daughter who never gives up despite constant rejection; and Brick, the quirky, book-loving youngest son with unusual habits—navigate the chaos of middle-American life. The show is celebrated for its honest, relatable portrayal of financial struggles, parenting challenges, and the humor found in ordinary family dysfunction, all without a laugh track.
