The Humans (2021)

Erik Blake has gathered three generations of his Pennsylvania family to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter’s apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls outside and eerie things go bump in the night, the Blake family’s deepest fears and greatest regrets unravel over the course of the evening. Tensions simmer beneath the surface as old wounds are reopened, secrets are revealed, and the family confronts the fragility of their bonds. What begins as a simple holiday gathering slowly transforms into a haunting exploration of mortality, family dysfunction, and the quiet desperation that binds people together. Based on Stephen Karam’s Tony Award-winning Broadway play, the film blends psychological horror elements with intimate family drama in a single, claustrophobic setting.
