Seagrass (2023)

Following the death of her mother, Japanese‑Canadian woman Judith takes her white husband, Steve, and their two young daughters to a couples’ therapy retreat on a remote Pacific coast island. As the family participates in group sessions and explores the shoreline, long‑buried tensions in their interracial marriage surface, amplified by Judith’s grief and questions of cultural identity. When they befriend another couple who seem to have a perfect relationship, Judith begins to see the fractures in her own. The strain soon affects the children’s emotional security, forcing the family toward a painful but necessary transformation.
