During the height of the Cold War, hotshot U.S. Navy pilot Lieutenant Troy “Assassin” Kelly is sent on a top-secret mission into Russian territory. When the operation goes horribly wrong, Troy becomes stranded behind enemy lines with little hope of making it home.
He is eventually discovered by Nikolai Ustinov, a gruff former KGB agent with an unusual fascination with American culture. Troy expects Nikolai to turn him over to the authorities, but instead, the two form an unlikely alliance. Together, they must navigate the dangers surrounding them as Troy tries to escape Soviet territory. Along the way, their partnership develops into an unexpected friendship.
