Ryohei Arisu is a directionless, video-game-obsessed young man who suddenly finds himself in an alternate, seemingly abandoned Tokyo alongside his two friends. There, they are forced to participate in deadly, game-based trials where survival depends on solving puzzles, cooperating with strangers, and making brutal moral choices. Arisu meets mountain climber Yuzuha Usagi, and together they uncover the rules of the mysterious Borderland. Across three seasons, the games escalate from numbered playing cards to Face Card trials hosted by powerful “Citizens,” culminating in the final Joker game as Arisu returns to the Borderland to rescue Usagi.netflix+1
