Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, a world-class chef from the fine dining world, returns to his hometown of Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop, The Original Beef of Chicagoland, after the suicide of his older brother Michael “Mikey” Berzatto. Overwhelmed by debt, dysfunction, and a volatile kitchen staff, Carmy struggles to transform the chaotic restaurant into a successful establishment. He is joined by his sister Sydney Adamu, a talented and ambitious chef, and his childhood friend Richie Jerimovich, Mikey’s best friend who helps manage the front of house. As the team works to keep the restaurant afloat, they confront personal demons, family trauma, and the high-pressure world of professional cooking. The series evolves from a gritty portrait of a struggling sandwich shop into a meditation on grief, ambition, creativity, and the cost of excellence in the culinary world.
