After a fatal shooting forces veteran S.W.A.T. Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson into retirement, he receives one final chance at redemption. Two years later, Hondo returns to the LAPD and is assigned to build an experimental tactical unit from the department’s overlooked and difficult recruits.
The new 44 Squad quickly nicknamed the “Exiles” includes a livestreaming firearms expert, a Marine veteran, a neurodivergent technology specialist, a determined officer with a prosthetic leg, and a rebellious former bad boy. Hondo must turn the inexperienced team into a functioning unit while confronting internal politics and a threat within the department.
