In a near-future society ruled by a sentient artificial intelligence system known as the Head, drought, global unrest, and depleted resources have forced humanity into total dependence on the AI. Everyone’s consciousness and daily lives are synced to this technology except for the Neosouls, a group of refugees led by the mysterious Rana who continue to live off the grid. When these nomads arrive in the city seeking resources, they are met with a mandate to connect to the Head, followed by gruesome violence. After one of their own is murdered, Djonny, a detective who was once a refugee himself, is brought in to investigate. But when he comes face to face with Rana, he finds himself gradually spiraling toward the edge of madness or at least toward his truest self, stripped of the invisible, pervasive force of advanced technology.
