In Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, bailiff Orsolya Ionescu evicts Ion Glanetaşu, a homeless former athlete, from the basement of a building scheduled for redevelopment into a luxury hotel. Overwhelmed by despair, Ion takes his own life. Consumed by guilt, Orsolya abandons her family holiday and wanders Cluj in search of absolution. She seeks answers from friends, family, co-workers, and authority figures. Racist media reports frame the eviction as a callous attack on a Romanian sporting hero, adding to her burden. Her obsession with the incident and the deeper social forces behind it pushes her to impulsive, risky extremes.
