Set roughly a decade before the original Star Trek series, Discovery begins with Michael Burnham, a Starfleet science specialist whose mutiny against Captain Gabriel Lorca during the Federation–Klingon War sets the series’ central conflict in motion. Across five seasons, Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery confront Klingon warfare, Section 31 conspiracies, a catastrophic galaxy-wide disaster, and the mysteries of the Progenitors’ ancient technology. The series evolves from a darker, war-focused prequel into a 32nd-century exploration story, culminating in Burnham’s rise to captain and a final mission to secure the technology that seeded life across the galaxy.wikipedia+1
