Lucious Lyon, the charismatic and ruthless CEO of Empire Entertainment, has built a hip-hop music and entertainment empire from the ground up. After being diagnosed with ALS, Lucious must choose a successor among his three sons: Andre, the pragmatic CFO; Jamal, the talented but estranged musician; and Hakeem, the flashy young rapper. As the Lyon family battles for control of the company, Lucious’s ex-wife Cookie emerges from prison after serving 17 years, determined to reclaim her share of the empire she helped build. The series chronicles the cutthroat power struggles, family betrayals, romantic entanglements, and musical ambitions that define the Lyon dynasty in the high-stakes world of the music industry.
