John Creasy, a former U.S. Army Special Forces Captain, left the military to do contract work for the CIA. On his last assignment in Mexico City, his entire team was ambushed and killed. Four years later, Creasy is suffering from severe PTSD, drinks heavily, and works in a warehouse. After a suicide attempt, his friend Paul Rayburn recruits him for a security assignment in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Shortly after arriving, a bomb detonates in a high-rise building, killing Rayburn and his entire family except for their teenage daughter Poe. Haunted by his past and hunted by his enemies, Creasy embarks on a violent, calculated revenge spree against those who committed the bombing. As he fights to keep Poe alive on the deadly streets of Rio, he uncovers a major conspiracy reaching the highest levels of the Brazilian government.
